Hot new updates to SkyDrive!

We're pleased to unveil new updates to SkyDrive today! Here's a quick rundown of what's included:

More places. We're now live in 24 additional locations, bringing our grand total to 62 countries and regions! We welcome new users in Bulgaria, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Thailand, Ukraine, and Venezuela!
Comments. You can leave comments on any file in SkyDrive and see all of the recent comments people have left for you.
Captions. A picture's worth a thousand words, but sometimes you need a few more. Now you can add captions and descriptions to your files and photos:
Click control. When you click on any file, you can speed through all the files in the folder:

Larger photo previews - we've made the photo previews even bigger.

We’ve also added some other features like Details view and Photo Thumbnails view, plus more bug fixes (keep the feedback coming!). So have a look, kick the tires on all the new stuff, and let us know what you think. And as always, thanks for using SkyDrive!

I'm really happy with SkyDrive, but want it to be the best alternative for flash disks, so here are suggestions...

1.- Change multiple files from one folder to other. (would be nice with drag-drop!)

I love to have everything organized, so I create lots of folders, and when needed, I create another and find out that one or more files are no longer in a specific folder if I created another "section", so I wold like to change them of folder...

2.- Up to 100MB per file

I use to save 50+MB files, and I'm forced to split them with WinRar...

I know you're thinking of low bandwidth users, but it'll really be nice to upload up to 100MB files... I think that's really enough for a file and no one would argue for more limit than that ;)

3.- Download multiple files at once by selecting them

I remember that in Live Groups there was this Picture Upload Tool, where, when hovering a file, a square with options like Rotate left, Rotate right, Edit and Select, appeared! How about just make that square appear around the file icon with a checkbox in the corner? And when 2 were selected, a "Download" button (or so) should appear, and the next screen (a "Downloading..." screen) with details of wich file is being downloaded, a progress bar and transfer speed, should be shown! that'll be REALLY cool!

Same with folders, showing their tree in the "Downloading" screen

Sound would be nice. That way they could listen to music while they see yout photos. Also you could do a voice over for them if you wanted.

A couple of questions for the team and/or users.

1.) Is there a Microsoft or other FORUM where users can discuss issues with SkyDrive and share common experiences and solutions. If so, I would suggest that a link be provided to the forrum from the team site. If not, then I would suggest that Microsoft CREATE one and put the link to it on the Team Blog/site.

2.) Is a MICROSOFT account REQUIRED to access SkyDrive files create by SkyDrive users. I have provided links to some who are NOT Microsoft email account holders such as MSN, Windows Live and Hotmail. Some have problems following the link and receive the error message, "That File Seems to Be Missing". WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? If the problem is that they do not have an account with one MSN, Windows Live and Hotmail, then why not SAY THAT and offer to take them to ONE of the web sites to enroll. You could simply put an icon for each service with a brief description which they can click on.

Justamente cuando buscaba donde almacenar un par de videos de 30 Mb (venia haciendolo con box que no me permite subir archivos de mas de 10 Mb) aparece Sky Drive que me deja subir hasta 50 Mb!!! Excelente Sky Drive Team!!! Seria fabuloso que agregaran un contador que mida la cantidad de Kb subidos. Saludos desde MX.

I think file size should be increased as 50mb is not that much of storage if you are really planning it to be an alternative to flashdisks. I'm enjoying it but user interface should be more friendlier, allowing drag-drop controls and more.

Skydrive is a tad bit cumbersome. One cannot transfer an entire directory of files. Instead you have to transfer file by file. The Skydrive uploader should be able to accomplish this.

I am a software engineer and have written web based file handlers for my clients. Handling an entire directory of files is not that hard of a task in .NET!
